Why is Rahul Gandhi not appropriate for the post of PM?

He has the killing Persian looks, is one of the most media savvy street smart politicians and is touted as the PM in making by many. The author is talking of none other than the scion of Gandhi family Mr.Rahul Gandhi. Though Mr. Gandhi is considered as next PM who can lead India to newer heights, the author has got strong opinion against him.
(To be very frank the author will like to make it very clear that he does have reservations for the Gandhi family and Congress regime but today the discussion will be solely on objective facts)

Author will also like to make it clear that:-

1> Mr. Gandhi cannot be deprived from the post of PM because his original name is Raul vincy:- Though Mr. Gandhi is from Italian origin but that does not mean he cannot be the PM. As long as the person is capable and efficient enough to carry on the responsibility even an Alien will do.

2> Mr. Gandhi cannot be the PM because it will affirm that India is a monarchial democracy:- Well author will like to reiterate that India just needs a capable and efficient PM, it does not matter whether he is a Monarch, Autocrat, Plutocrat, Socialist, Communist or anything else.

Now the point comes why cannot he be the PM

1> What kind of experience he has?:- when Dhiru bhai Ambani launched his sons Mukesh and Anil he didn't give them the profile of a Ceo, they were initially inducted as normal management trainees, once they gained ample experience senior profile where given to them. The same must hold true for the PM's office in India, the job requires very high degree of capability and experience and cannot be executed by any neophyte. If Mr. Gandhi is really serious to execute this great duty with full efficiency then he should have taken some portfolio in the current ministry and tried to learn how things really work. If he thinks that just because of the Gandhi surname ruling and administration is a part of his DNA then probably it’s a blunder that the nation might has to bear.

2> Mediocre academic background: Though academic background is not a prerequisite for the post of PM, but having a good background is an added edge. In spite of all the rumors that Mr. Gandhi has degrees from big foreign universities, the fact is that he had been a below average student who just managed to pass during his St.Stepehens days and could not even get a post graduate degree.

3> Lacks aggression and eloquence: since the past six years Mr. Gandhi is visiting the parliament as a MP. But hardly there had been a single incident where he would have shown some courage or eloquence which is the prime requirement for a leader.

4> Is unaware of realities: Born and brought up in a situation of paranoia and isolation he is devoid of the ground realities of India. In Narendra Modi’s words he is like a fish born and brought up in a captive atmosphere of an aquarium.

  1. The point on aggression is best received by me. He barely has an impact to mark his presence by himself. It's just the political spin-doctors of Congress party who are able to create an aura for him.
The only times he made his presence felt were when he shot himself in the foot with outrageous remarks on some touchy topics...and when the coterie around Sonia arranged for rallies for him.
His commuting by a crowded train in Mumbai during a politically hostile situation stands out alone, enough to deserve a few raised eye-brows at best.

  2. Kindly consider these:
1.The protagonist's real name is not Raul Vinci. Raul Vinci is an assumed name which the took while he was working for Monitor Group.
    Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahul_Gandhi

2.Sonia Gandhi became an Indian citizen in 1983 by naturalisation as provided for under Section 6 of the Citizenship Act, 1955.
Hence a child born to Indians will be Indian

    3. Monarchial Democracy exists in the most advanced western countries e.g. Bush , Kennedys of US.

    4. Mr.Rahul has done MBA from Harvard, MPhil from Cambridge, worked under Micheal Porter. I think thats enough to prove the credibility of a youngster. Besides how many politicians (or leaders) carry such academic record?
True, he lacks experience in Indian politics. General Elections 2009 proves his ability in this respect.

5.I believe Michael Porter will employ only the brightest minds in his consultancy company.Hence his academic performance must be average at worst.

  3. Rahul Gandhi took charge of NSUI and Youth Congress in 2004. These are some changes brought in by him:
    1. got FAME to conduct organisational elections of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) in Punjab.

    2. Barred candidates with chargesheeted criminal records to contest elections.

Result: In General Elections 2009, 11 Youth Congress members were given the party ticket across the country. Nine won.

  4. @Respected anonymous:-

1st up all I appreciate ur knowledge....now let me put some points...
    1> I m nt against monarchial democracy.
2> I dont have any concern over the citizenship issue. He has the itlaian blood in him but that doesnt matter at all.(i have made this very clear)
3> Name is again not the point of concern.(the point is again made vet=ry clear)

since these points are used by ultra nationalist organizations against him so just in order to refute it, I have used them...the main purpose of the blog has got nothing 2 do with the validity of these facts.

Now comes to the point of his educational qualification...there is no validity regarding his exactly is his educational qualification...i have read some where that non them in the gandhi family could clear there courses at cambridge university.(n that includes every one frm Indira to Varun)..besides these things cannot be known..his supporter will say he has gr8 degrees n his opponenets will oppose..

N as much his intelligence is concern then during that st. stephens remark it was made very clear that he was a below avg student

  5. The points that Rahul Gandhi did an MBA from Harvard or that he worked under Michael Porter are qualified falsehoods.
My earlier point stands vindicated. Just because he's Rahul and a Gandhi, whatever he does is sexy to the womenfolk and whatever he couldn't do, he's supposed to be capable of doing it all! That's the power of impressions for you.
    God save India.

  6. Morons have been elected and become prime minsters of India. After 60 years we even have an Italian lady calling the shots in Indian politics for christ's sake. The baby Gandhi would fit right in. He is half italian and a moron. Rahul Gandhi should drop his Indian alias and under his pope given christian name should rule over india forever. We Indians do not deserve anything better..

mr paritosh, the nation gives a damn to what u and i think or say! INC grew from the crushed seed only coz of sonia n her kiddos (they are popular figures, white n beautiful)..
we are a weird nation full of weird ppl, but the only point of concern is, who is able enough?
we are a nation full of rotten netas, nobody is good!
rahul, though he is apparently a good man can only be good for advertisements, he has no making of a PM! but as i said, who cares what we say!
this is going complex, i better stop here :P

  8. All of the facts that do you have told against his PM position do not stand.
About experience i must say that this is not his first tenure as PM and who is saying to you that he will be PM in next Govt. , surely he will not going to be, maybe he will take some cabinet Post next time after that he will have some kind of experience.
His Father one of the best PM we had was not having any experience.

  9. @abhishek,,,

his fathers entry was not planned but just a matter of chance...

N u dont need to be an expert to decide that he is not going to be the candidate for the post of PM.

  10. I couldnt agree more with this. He got lucky just because he is a Gandhi. While having popular fore-fathers is a boon for such people, its a curse for the country!

  14. Today i juss came across a profile of a person in FB which had a status update tht Rahul Gandhi is not capable for being the prime minister..!!
First thing dude to which i will like to bring about ur kind attention is tht his actual name ws nt raul vincy it ws juss to hide his true identity..!!
Mr.Rahul Gandhi also worked as a management trainee in Michael Porter's Management consulting firm, Monitor Group for three years..!!
apart from tht as far as public relations are concern He returned to India in late 2002 to run an engineering and technology outsourcing firm in Mumbai..!!
after tht as far as family background is concern everybody knows tht from where he hails..!!
and as far as education is concern Mr. Gandhi is very highly qualified He attended Modern School, New Delhi before entering the The Doon School, also his father's alma mater, from 1981-83 before being home-schooled for security reasons. Starting university at Harvard, he got his B.A. from Rollins College, Florida in 1994 due to interruptions in his studies caused by security concerns after his father's assassination. He received an M.Phil. in Development Studies in 1995 from Trinity College, Cambridge.
He relation with the countries He also traveled to Pakistan on a goodwill visit to watch the first cricket series between the countries in 14 years in a One Day International with his sister Priyanka Gandhi.
In March 2004, he announced his entry into politics by announcing that he would contest the May 2004 elections, standing for his father's former constituency of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of Parliament.
Till 2006 he held no other office and concentrated mainly on constituency issues and the politics of Uttar Pradesh.
In January 2006, at a convention of the Indian National Congress in Hyderabad, thousands of party members asked for Gandhi to take a more prominent leadership role in the party and demanded that he address the delegates. He said "I appreciate and I am grateful for your feelings and support. I assure you I will not let you down", but asked for patience and declined to immediately seek a higher profile role.
Rahul Gandhi was appointed a general secretary of the All India Congress Committee on 24 September 2007 in a reshuffle of the party secretariat. In the same reshuffle, he was also given charge of the Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India.
In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, he retained his Amethi constituency by defeating his nearest rival by a margin of over 333,000 votes. In these elections congress is said to have revived itself in Uttar Pradesh by winning 21 out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats and the majority of the credit for this turnaround is given to Rahul Gandhi. He spoke at 125 rallies across the country in six weeks.Gandhi had advised austerity for all the Congress members and claims to wear simple clothes and not waste money. He said it is the duty of all politicians to be austere.
This is what an actual and true leader is like..!!

educational qualifications for such person can never be found out propely...Rahul gandhi was a below avg student and every one knows it very well....
Congress won 21 seats out of 80 does not mean he is responsible for that...there has been debacle too in his presence...but no one will maKE HIM responsible for that....

  17. About qualifications: With a Masters degree in Development Studies and a degree in Economics, Rahul is far more qualified than the past 3 occupants of the chair before Manmohan Singh.

What are atal behari vajpayees qualifications? And Deve Gowda's? And IK Gujrals?

What are Narendra Modi's qualifications? BA in Violin Playing? Yeah i am sure that is a better qualification than a Masters Degree in Development Studies!!

About experience: What was Atal Behari Vajpayee's administrative experience before he became Prime Minister? And what was Narendra Modi's administrative experience before he became CM of Gujarat?

Aggression does no equal eloquence. I would think a "Management guru" would know that. And is aggression required for a PM's job?

The last time in 2009 we saw a contest between Advani and Manmohan Singh and India answered in one voice what their choice was. Between a poorly educated, shrill, over the top, Muslim baiting refugee from Pakistan and a suave, decent, highly educated and most importantly honest man like Manmohan Singh: India chose. And chose well! Learn from that!

Rahul does not need to be aggressive unnecessarily. He needs to be politically suave.

Unaware of realities? What makes you think so? because narendra modi said so? Anyone who criticises the RSS is automatically shot down as being unaware of realities and India knows this fact well.

If anyone is distanced from reality, it is the rabid fascist sanghi groupies. Rahul hasnt been too far away from the truth when he said that enemies within were more dangerous than the enemies outside, the statement that earned him so much wrath from the RSS.

If only the RSS had looked into its own history, it would have realised that this statement was first made by a gentleman called MS Golwalkar!

All that being said, i would say that you are barking up the wrong tree. Rahul is perfectly qualified to be Prime Minister: if Advani and Modi are qualified, then Rahul most certainly is.

However, Rahul has a more important task ahead of him: that of reviving the congress. This is a fight for saving India from fascism and the fight is NOT against the BJP but against the RSS: and Rahul knows this too well.

Rahul will handle the party and there are perfectly competent, able and administrative capable people who can take over from Manmohan Singh: My bets are on P Chidambaram to be the next Prime Minister. Rahul runs the party, the PM runs the country.

  18. What what alternative does the BJP have?

Narendra Modi who has bought shame to india with his thuggery in 2002. Claims of "administrative excellence" cannot wash away his sins. Or Sushma Swaraj: the "Mother India" and chief beneficiary of the kleptocracy in Karnataka being run by the scheming reddy brothers?

Or God forbid: Nitin Gadkari, the tentwala from Nagpur?

When seen in this light, the Congress party alternative of a centrist party headed by a young dynamic Rahul Gandhi, with a govt headed by a capable and qualified individual (Chidambaram or Scindia or whoever) doesnt seem so bad now does it?

  19. unfortunately PM of India is not elected by the people of India but selected by the party getting majority and leaders of alliances. So, they may not use any/all of these criteria. I think if you will assess past 5 PMs on these aspects, most of them will fall short on at least 2 of the points. Though I am not a big fan of Congress or RG, but somehow I think he will not project himself as PM in 2014 at least before elections !
